The Warriors won their senior night, defeating the Waveriders in straight sets of 25-6, 25-14 and 25-14.

This was Kealakehe’s last outing of the season, as it will not enter the upcoming BIIF DI playoffs. The Waveriders close out the season at 1-11, their sole victory being 3-2 over Kea‘au last week.

The Warriors have one remaining regular season test — tonight at Hilo HS, with JV beginning at 5 p.m. and varsity following.

Now 6-5 and currently 0-2 against the Vikings, the Warriors will enter the BIIF playoffs in the No. 3 seed — even if they defeat Hilo (No. 2) tonight.

The Vikings will host Waiakea during the pair’s semifinal bout — which is slated for 6 p.m. next Thursday (Oct. 26).

The winner will earn a berth in the upcoming HHSAA state championship tournament and will play in the Central Pacific Bank/BIIF Division I Championship match two days later at KS-Hawai‘i.

The runner-up of the BIIF championship will host its first-round state championship game on Nov. 6. The quarterfinals through finals will take place Nov. 9 through Nov. 11 on O‘ahu.

Waiakea’s JV also defeated Kealakehe on Tuesday, 2-0 (25-9, 25-12).
